Sew What?

London, UK

“If the world’s garment production would stop right now today, there would anyway be enough clothes for six generations to come.” Marc Crochet, CEO Delano Luxemburg

Sew What? is an architectural and programatic proposal, taking an underused building in Bermondsey, London and transforming it into a textile reuse hub that promotes sustainable alternatives to fashion.

The space is designed to host educational talks and film screenings, community swap events, up-cycling workshops, and celebrates responsible fashion through an onsite shop, galery, and dynamic catwalk shows.

Original elements of the 19th century building’s industrial heritage are retained, whilst selective oping of the interior creates visual and physical connections both vertically and horizontally. The result is a light-filled environment that transforms the structure into a vibrant community-powered hub that contributes to wider systems change.
